The Foundation Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) is designed to estimate the shear strength of weak soils with a California Bearing Ratio (CBR) of less than 20 and an allowable bearing capacity below 4,000 psf. It is suitable for evaluating the in-place strength of both undisturbed soils and compacted materials.
The instrument can also be used to estimate the California Bearing Ratio (CBR), soil shear strength, and layer thickness of the tested material, making it a valuable tool for geotechnical investigations and quality control.
The H-4220F Foundation DCP is ideal for horizontal construction applications, including shallow foundations, roadways, and pavement shoulders. In its standard configuration, it is capable of evaluating material properties to a depth of 36 in (914 mm) below the ground surface. By adding optional 24 in (610 mm) extension rods, the testing depth can be increased to approximately 6 ft (2 m), allowing for deeper subsurface investigations.
